 This body of work is my visual rejection of the box we are put in from birth, and an angered stance against the way women have been objectified, disrespected, and treated as sub-human in everyday society.  In this context, I would use the word re-humanize because we have been DE-humanized, and my pieces are a rebellious stand to counteract the years of dehumanization through visual media. I believe that showing images of female human beings in a sterile, medical, and natural state restores a neutrality to the female body. By re-humanization, I am giving us back our dignity which has been robbed from us for millennia. My use of medical illustration and the display of one or more systems of the human body is due to the fondness and comfort I feel towards the medical sciences and my love for human anatomy. The grid tiled background alludes to the secure environment in which I was raised where science and medicine informed my humanity.
